In order to reimagine sustainability, technological solutions towards sustainability have to be harnessed to deliver good. How do technological solutions aid in reimagining sustainability goals?
Progressive companies around the globe do a great job in ensuring their values, culture, approach, and attitude, are ingrained in their strategy, policies, business plans and people. That said one of the critical elements of executing a sustainability strategy is the ability to effectively launch, manage and measure the results from any sustainability initiative which can be done seamlessly with the help of technology solutions. Technology solutions make performance management and impact assessment of sustainability initiatives relatively easy and become a platform that provides data for strategic decision making, and making a sound business case for sustainability.

India’s renewable energy sector is expected to generate hundreds of thousands of jobs over the coming years, as the country strives to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.
This could help transform India’s rural economy, but it also presents a major challenges, given the skills gap that exists in the country, analysts and renewable energy companies say.
“There is actually a gap where technical skills would be required,” says Sunita Purushottam, the head of consulting at Treeni Sustainability Solutions, based in Pune in western India. “We are relying more and more on renewable energy power, and it’s already having a huge impact on job creation.”

Long before the advent of government regulations, many organisations had their own social conscience. They realised that they were using raw material, labour, land etc, that belong to the society.
In some cases, they took voluntary responsibility for the company’s effects on the environment and therefore felt the need to give back to the society through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) interventions.
In 2014, the CSR policy rules made it mandatory for organisations (the norms apply to companies with at least Rs 5 crore net profit or Rs 1,000 crore turnover or Rs 500 crore net worth), to spend at least 2% of average net profit of the previous three years on specified socially beneficial projects.
